The Prime Directive Retrospective Idea
Bring a little bit of Sci-Fi into your sprint retrospective meetings by implementing the Prime Directive. This statement will help you and your team collaborate better by creating a safe and goal-oriented environment.
What is the Prime Directive?
Prime directive is the guiding principle of the Star Team in Star Trek. It states the following:
“Regardless of what we discover, we understand ad truly believe that everyone did the best job they could, given what was known at the time, their skills and abilities, the resources available, and the situation at hand.:”
The Prime Directive’s main purpose in a retrospective idea is to create a positive environment that gets the team working on solutions to any issues collaboratively.
When Should the Prime Directive be Used?
When starting a meeting to discuss the team’s performance, it is a great idea to state the Prime Directive and have it written out so members can reference it throughout the meeting. The statement is helpful if there were misunderstandings between team members or if you are having issues with your team collaborating with one another. Additionally, it can be helpful to use the Prime Directive as a motto to stay positive during difficult meetings and work towards a goal.
